Eternity

I am the spirit of this man past
His soul to dwell where they said it must.
To wish to know his thoughts to see
Of where he thought he now would be.

None could see and none would tell
All have guessed, their souls to sell.
This soul dwells where I not know
No-one spoke of where he has gone.

Wisdom

Wisdom has learnt from a life led
Decisions made; to grow; to die.
And to lessons realised when
Humility reigns and when books are read.

A gift to give and as wise will wise
To know and how and when and will.
With a tale to tell
An answer is known or a way is shown.

Hayden Andrews

Torn

Cute the voice spoke from the darkness
Small and dainty like darkness, not.
Spirit of a lion born of a mouse
Melodies of the angels from it's mouth.

Many voices from this darkness come
But one above the others, clear.
Standing there amongst the rest
Tall and splendorous, with an arrow, my heart to pierce.

Hayden Andrews

Rice Fields of Vietnam

Honeycomb of green and brown
Scattered all around.
Fields controlled by force - by man
Forever toil the land.

Buffalo big and gruff
Struggling long into the dusk.
Mud and mire, to turn the earth
Never proving their worth.

Women, so bent, do stand
All day working by hand.
To sew, to thin, to reap, to sew
Daily - forever more to go.

Hayden Andrews

Wonderous Days

To whom on this day
Do you give the praise?
A day full of wonder
Or lightening and thunder.
Miracles of nature
Splendour and rapture.
People of all kinds
With unique minds.
Plenty of beauty
The suns very duty.
Colours abound
Displayed all around.
Many sensuous flavours
People love to savour.
Unlimited love
From our God above.
To whom on this day
Do you give the praise?

Hayden Andrews

Unwitting Withdrawl

The touch of an angel
That stings like a bee.
Words that raise hairs
From bubbling stream.

Faults, though few
High towering above.
None that should matter
Over-writ with love.

Kindness of heart
Comes back - no return.
Tries yet again
But always will burn.

What is this beast
That tramples the rose?
How can it be stopped?
Before all the love goes.

Lonely Planet Quick-Step

Backpacker trail
Lonely Planet quick-step.
Repeat of the same tale
Another tourist trip.

More tourists than locals
Authentic ethnic - so called.
Backpackers hating tourists
But all of the same locusts.

Hayden Andrews

A Passing Moment

Love that lasts a moment
Even only one day.
Can it be called love and
Is it really love at all?

Love which endures
It goes on and on.
Daily refreshed when each other it sees
In whatever happens.

Hayden Andrews

Crazy Monk

Crazy Monk, crazy Monk
Flicks his brush
And there's some art.

Hayden Andrews

Hate

One colour, many people
The power of hate.
To war with those
Who, to me, seem the same.

One country, two people
The power of hate.
To war with those
because they do not sound the same.

Politics of the people
The power of hate.
To war with those
Who do not think the same.

Hayden Andrews

Worlds Apart?

Endless extremes
Inconsistencies
Poverty and rich live as one
Poor or rich, hard to pick which
Forever toiling in the sun.

Hayden Andrews

The Monk from Dalat

The monk, he dreams of travel plans
Around the world some day.
This plan to do, much cash he'll need
If his way he is to pay.

To art he turns, a profit to make
Thinking "come what may".
But soon he'll see many tourists come
Reputation leads the way.

His paintings sell, and poems too
As slowly he turns grey.
But soon will be his time to go
To finally go away.

Hayden Andrews

Reflections

Strength of strength
Like man grows old
Never to return.

But hope to find
'Fore all is lost
Meaning, not wrong.

Reflection shows
Come what may
As each of us we see.

Shown there
Clear to one
That, which I am, is me.

Hayden Andrews

Enforced Poverty

Crippled by birth
Or crippled by state
Nowhere to live
Yet much to give
Showing no hate.

For rich, for poor
City of love
Used by some
With more to come
Seen from above.

Small and cute
Too young to work
To earn a dong
Parents at wrong?
Corners do lirk.

Children so happy
Laughing and smiling
Job or not
Rich or not
A song to sing.

Hayden Andrews

Beyond My Expectations

You are an angel,
A gift from heaven.
Finest of the fine,
Sweetest of sweethearts.
Your beauty, how to tell?
Mostly within or spectacular without.
More than I desire,
More than I dream,
More than I prayed for,
You mean everything to me.

Hayden Andrews

Paradox

My life cycles from this to that and back.
Same things return, rejected becoming popular again.
I abhor my crimes and love my good,
Chasing the bad and stuff what's right.

Hayden Andrews

Like a Man

Oh Lord, my God, how awesome is your power
The wind of your breath can take a man's life.
Our frail attempts to control our own lives and outwit God
Come to nothing as our last chance draws to an end.

With an ass, he takes a King
A sickness allowed to take the child
A consequence for having turned from God
Expect nothing less simple for a man like me.

But like David whose child was ill
He mourned and wept, as if for the dead.
Beseeching God to change his mind,
But rose and praised God when his will complete

Like him, I will remain in my God
Regardless of what judgements may come
Because as with that man so full of God
I also trust and believe in the most Holy of all.

Hayden Andrews

The Lion's Spots

How's it work, how's it so?
A lion advises the lamb
And speaks of ways, oh so right
Where peace and love abound.

The lion knows, the lion sees
Experienced in good and in bad.
Knowledge gained of what is right
Or ideals of others heard?

What'll he do? Attack or lie down?
Is he the things he's done?
Or become just as we see
A new creature of no harm?

Oh no, I see. The lion devours
A creature can not change.
Or does my judgement prove once more
That neither can I change?

Hayden Andrews

Restored

The Lord is my shepherd, my guide and my Lord
Who else need I cling to?
All dependencies in life will come to fail
Including that which I trust in most.

But in the Lord, true, I must stay
A choice to remain in his love.
For nothing else is more meant to be
Than being in relationship with him.

To him I returned - restored, as should be
By choice, and through the blood of Christ
He called my name, and knew me so
I heard his call and turned to him.

Restored, renewed, I choose here to stay
I commit myself afresh each day.
As nothing else compares to my love for God
and nothing more than his love for us.

Hayden Andrews

Dreams II

My Lord and Saviour
I've called on you
For such a very long time.

You are my all,
My everything
Committed forever more.

But I ask
Daren't you reply?
Just one favour to impart.

One thing I long
Lord, please say "Yes"
Our dreams to coincide.

Hayden Andrews

Dreams

I have a dream
A very real goal
But a mile away it seems.

From where I am
To reach the place
Impossible to me.

I trust in God
And with my man,
All, in him, can be.

So I pray 'n fast
For without faith
Our goal I will not see.

Hayden Andrews

God's Greatness

To God's glory, the things he has done.
Amazing, or not, who should tell?
Is it only in me, that I can decide
Of what to ascribe greatness or not?

Hayden Andrews

Beautiful

Juicy and fresh
Fruit picked at it's best
Not a bruise to be seen
Virgin of the hands held.

Torment of mind
To decide
To bite right now
Or forever admire.
